Last Volkswagen Beetle drives off Mexico factoryThe insect-like car, aptly named "Beetle",  is one of Volkswagen's most recognizable cars.

The last car was produced at the Mexico factory this week, and it will remain at Volkswagen's museum in Puebla, Mexico.

The car was born in the Nazi era of the 1930s

Nazi ruler Adolf Hitler told Ferdinand Porsche to design a "Volkswagen" or "people's car"
 	It had to be an affordable vehicle for the masses, capable of carrying a family and their luggage
 	Porsche designed a two-door, rear-engine vehicle that could cruise at top speeds of 100 km/hr
 	It was officially named the Type 1
 	After the second World War (1939 -1945),  the British re-launched Volkswagen factory production
 	In 1955, the rounded car earned its nickname "the Beetle"
 	The name stuck even as sales of the car spread around the globe as it became famous for its durability, ease of maintenance, and, cute looks!
 	In 1997, Pueblo began production of the "New Beetle," and then a second-generation "New Beetle" followed in 2011

The end of the Beetle marks a turning-point for Volkswagen, which now sees its future in electric cars.
