OneWeb collaborates with New Space India Limited!

OneWeb has signed a deal with the commercial arm of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) to launch its internet satellites.

The London-based company has signed a deal with the commercial arm of ISRO, New Space India Limited (NSIL).The first liftoff to expected to happen this year from the Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC) in northeastern India.

What is ISRO?

International Space Research Organization (ISRO) aims to develop space technology and apply it to varied country requirements.

What is NSIL?

New Space India Limited (NSIL) aims to help Indian businesses take on high-tech space-related projects. It also promotes and sells products and services from the Indian space industry.

The idea behind the agreement!

  • OneWeb, a subsidiary of the Bharti Group, is the first private company to launch satellites from Indian soil. This is done in partnership with NSIL.
  • OneWeb will use rockets made by the Indian Space Research Organization. The focus area of OneWeb is to build a global network that will deliver high-speed, low-latency connectivity to “everyone, everywhere”.
  • OneWeb wants to have a group of 650 satellites in low-earth orbit that can communicate with each other.
  • The agreement will add to OneWeb’s current constellation of 428 satellites, which is 66% of the planned fleet.
