Remembering Krishnakumar Kunnath (KK)!

Recommended for Middle Grades

Hey there, inquiring spirit! Let me tell you a touching story about someone really special named Krishnakumar Kunnath, but we’ll call him KK for short!

Once upon a time, in the big city of Delhi in the year 1968, KK was born. He was an amazing singer who could sing songs in many different languages like Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, and Bengali. Wow, that’s a lot of languages!

Melodic Legend: Remembering KK

  • KK’s journey into the world of movies began in the 1990s when he got to act in some films. But guess what? Before that, he was singing jingles for commercials. Can you imagine KK singing about shampoo or yummy snacks on TV?
  • Now, let me tell you about some of KK’s super-duper popular songs! There was “Tadap Tadap Ke,” “Dus Bahane,” “Tune Maari Entriyaan,” and “Dola Re Dola.” These songs were from a movie called “Devdas” and everyone loved them. People would sing and dance along whenever they heard KK’s magical voice.
  • But wait, there’s more! KK was not only a great singer but also a talented songwriter. He released two fantastic albums called “Pal” in 1999 and “Humsafar” in 2008. His songs were like little musical hugs that made people feel warm inside.
  • KK was not just an amazing singer, he was also a mentor and judge in singing competitions. Can you believe it? He helped other singers find their own magical voices and shine like stars!
  • Now, here comes the part that’s a little sad. At the age of 53, KK experienced something called a heart attack, and he left this world. People who loved him, like you and me, felt really emotional because he had touched their hearts with his songs.
  • But you know what? Even though KK is not with us anymore, his legacy will live on forever. His beautiful songs will continue to make people smile, laugh, and dance. His fans, including Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, paid tribute to him, showing just how much he was loved and admired.
  • So, my little friend, always remember KK’s story. It’s a story of a talented and kind-hearted person who spread joy through music. And no matter what happens, the magic of his songs will stay in our hearts forever. Keep singing and spreading happiness, just like KK did!
