Former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit passes away

Former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit passes awayThree-time Delhi Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Sheila Dikshit passed away on 20th July in New Delhi.

She was 81 years old and had been ill for a long time.

Sheila Dikshit was the Chief Minister of Delhi for 15 years from 1998-2013.

Apart from that, she also served as the Governor of Kerala.
 	Sheila Dikshit was the president of Delhi Congress and its senior-most leader in Delhi.
 	She was considered to be close to the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

In light of her services, the Delhi government has announced a two-day state mourning. She also receives a state funeral.

Sheila Dikshit's cremation takes place today at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi. A funeral procession has been held in her honour.

Meanwhile, prayers and wishes for her have poured in from leaders and workers from all over the country.

They include President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Modi, Sonia Gandhi, LK Advani and Sushma Swaraj, as well as the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal.
