MS Dhoni resumes duty as Lt.Colonel

MS Dhoni resumes duty as Lt.ColonelFormer Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni will soon be joining the 106 TA Battalion Para of the Indian Army. He will be joining as a Lieutenant Colonel (Lt.Colonel).

Dhoni's posting will be in the Kashmir Valley 
 	The posting will be for fifteen days, between 31st July and 15th August 2019.
 	He will likely take up patrolling, guard and post duties.
 	He specifically requested to be stationed along with the troops in the Kashmir valley.

Dhoni has long been an admirer of the Indian Army. His posting in Kashmir should help increase awareness about the armed forces, among the youth.

The Indian Army accorded* Dhoni, the honorary* rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army unit of the Parachute Regiment (106 Para TA battalion) in 2011.
 	The Indian Army has also accorded the same honour to Abhinav Bindra and Deepak Rao.

Dhoni has excused himself from the West Indies tour. India will be playing three T20Is, three ODIs and two Test matches in West Indies beginning 3rd August.
