In Gujarat, it is against the law to make, sell, or drink alcoholic beverages. On the other hand,  several people surrendered to fake alcohol that took their precious lives.

What is fake alcohol?

Alcohol that is created in unregistered factories or in people’s homes for sale is considered to be fake. 

What is a Special Investigation Team (SIT)?

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigates crimes when the regular police force is unable to handle the investigation on its own.

People who manufacture fake alcohol use ingredients that are bad for your health such as using toxic chemicals. This is one of the main reasons why fake alcohol is so dangerous.

  • State officials stated that several people are being cared for across cities in Gujrat. They were hospitalized after consuming fake alcohol.
  • If one drinks fake alcohol, one might experience a headache, feel sick in the stomach, feel like throwing up, and so on.
  • Several people suspected of selling fake alcohol illegally in rural areas have been caught by the police, according to news reports.
  • The state government is looking into the incident. A Special Investigation Team (SIT)  has been created to further investigate the case.
  • Some experts think that the state’s prohibition law lets a black market for alcoholic drinks exist.
