Can a toilet turn poop into ashes?

Recommended for Preparatory Grades

Samsung makes a toilet that doesn’t need water to work. Human waste can be turned into ashes by the toilet. It is called an “energy-efficient toilet,” and you don’t have to use any water with it.

This makes it perfect for use in remote areas, where nitrogen and small amounts of pollution from human waste can be harmful to both the environment and the people who come into contact with it.

The toilet is made for the “Reinvent the Toilet Challenge.” The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation began the campaign in 2011. The goal of the campaign is to change the way toilets work.

This is so that billions of people can get rid of their waste in a safe and effective way. People all over the world could be using toilets that aren’t safe.

The main goal is to help improve sanitation facilities around the world that aren’t good enough.

Key facts!

  • This modern toilet design doesn’t use any water. Instead, it works with heat treatment and bioprocessing.
  • Samsung’s technology can turn trash into ash, and in the near future, the company plans to offer royalty-free licences for its patents in this area.
  • Some of the most important technologies used by Samsung are heat treatment and bioprocessing.
  • These steps get rid of pathogens in human waste and make liquid waste and solid waste safe for the environment.
  • The toilet system makes it possible to recycle all of the water that has been cleaned.
  • Samsung plans to work with the foundation to make the technology available to a large number of people.
  • It also plans to let developing countries use patents related to the project without having to pay royalties.
