We all know what a teacher is. A teacher (or educator) is a person who helps students to acquire knowledge and a good character.

Why is a teacher important?

Teachers are very important guides for children to grow up to be kind, smart and responsible.
 	A good teacher encourages and nourishes children's talents while helping them overcome their shortcomings.

How can one become a teacher in India?

In India, you can enter into teaching after class 12, graduation and post-graduation, depending on which grade level you want to teach.
 	Without graduation, you can get degrees to teach younger grades, like Diploma in Early Childhood Education (D.E.C.Ed.), Bachelor’s in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed), etc.
 	For older grades, you will need to be a graduate and then get a Bachelor’s in Education (B.Ed).
 	For teaching at colleges, one needs a Masters degree in their chosen subject and then take the National Eligibility Test (NET) exam.

Being a teacher, at any level, is not an easy job. However, it is a rewarding one, where one can greatly influence the future generation. A teacher can change many lives and are unforgettable.
