Varanasi to Dibrugarh – World’s longest river cruise!

The world’s longest river cruise will set sail from Varanasi to Dibrugarh. The cruise will travel more than three thousand kilometres over the course of 50 days.

The three-deck ship will be christened in Varanasi on 13 January by Prime Minister Modi.

The world’s longest river cruise will take passengers from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh to Dibrugarh in Assam, passing through Bangladesh along the way.

The cruise will pass through multiple river systems predominantly comprised of the Ganga and the Brahmaputra.

  • The Ganga Vilas is a privately-owned and -operated luxury cruise ship with three decks.
  • It is expected to depart from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh with nearly thirty Swiss guests and arrive in Dibrugarh in eastern Assam after fifty days.
  • A total of 36 guests, in addition to the staff members, can be accommodated on board the luxurious cruise ship.
  • The ship features 18 suites and all modern conveniences.
  • The cost of the ticket is the same for both Indians and non-Indians.
  • The itinerary for the voyage includes visiting the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bangladesh, and Assam.
  • During the stopovers, the cruise will pull over at fifty different locations across seven Indian states and Bangladesh.
  • Thus giving passengers the opportunity to learn about the region’s rich cultural history.
  • The authorities hope that this cruise experience will enable tourists to experience India’s cultures, civilisations, and landscapes on the banks of the Ganges and the Brahmaputra.
