A record-breaking cane toad is found in Queensland, Australia. It is promptly called “Toadzilla.” 

What is a toad?

Toad is a small, cold-blooded amphibian that can survive in both land and water environments.

What is cane toad?

The cane toad is a poisonous and large species of toad that lives in South and Central America.

The huge cane toad was found in a rainforest in north Australia. At first, wildlife inspectors thought it was fake because it was so big.

Toads are considered to be one of the most destructive pests in Australia. Experts estimate that there are now over 2 billion of them throughout the country.

  • The so-called “monster” species weighs 2.7 kilogrammes.
  • Moreoever it is six times bigger than a typical toad.
  • Wildlife inspectors believe that it could set a new world record.
  • The current Guinness World Record for the largest toad is held by a toad named Prinsen.
  • Prinsen is kept as a pet in Sweden.
  • According to experts, Toadzilla most likely ate a diet consisting of insects, reptiles, and small mammals.
  • In addition, a cane toad of that size would consume anything that it could get its mouth around.
  • In Australia, toads do not have any natural predators.
  • Thus the poisonous species wreak havoc on the populations of local animals.
  • A cane toad can live up to 15 years in the wild.
  • Although wildlife experts do not know how old Toadzilla is, they feel Toadzilla has been around for a long time.
