Emotional Journey: Uncovering Abu Dhabi’s Lost Artifacts!

Recommended for Preparatory Grades

Hey there! Guess what? Some super cool discoveries have been made in Abu Dhabi, and they’re really old, like really, really old!

Archaeologists (that’s a fancy word for treasure hunters) found some ancient things from a time called the Iron Age and the pre-Islamic period. Let us tell you all about it!

Ancient Discoveries

  • The archaeologists found these amazing artifacts like swords and ceramics. Can you imagine holding a sword from a loooong time ago? So cool! These discoveries cover a time period starting from around 1300 BC all the way to 600 AD.
  • They found all these treasures while doing some digging in a place called Al Ain, which is in Abu Dhabi. They were working on building a road, and guess what they found? The archaeologists discovered a cemetery! No, it’s not a scary graveyard, but a place where people were buried a very long time ago. Around 20 graves were found there, and guess what was inside them? Really, really old things like amphorae (fancy word for jugs), bronze bowls, and other ceramics. These objects were in such great condition, it was like they were just made yesterday!
  • But wait, there’s more! The archaeologists also found lots of iron weapons in the graves. Arrows, spears, and even swords! Can you picture yourself wielding a sword like a brave knight? We bet you can! One of the swords they found was a whopping 70 centimeters tall! It was still in one piece, can you believe it?
  • The cool thing is that finding a cemetery means that there might have been a village or town nearby during that time. They found even more ancient things along an 11.5-kilometer stretch in a place called Al Khrais. There, they discovered an Iron Age cemetery with a big stone tomb and at least 35 graves! That’s a lot of old resting places! They also found some tombs from the pre-Islamic period. One of these tombs had a hidden stash of iron weapons. It’s like finding a secret treasure chest, right?
  • But wait, there’s more to the story! The archaeologists also found something really interesting. They discovered irrigation systems and agricultural sites. Those are things that people used a long time ago to grow plants and crops. Isn’t that amazing? They found lots of other objects too, like beautiful jewelry and pretty shells. It’s like finding a hidden treasure trove!
  • So, isn’t it incredible what these archaeologists found in Abu Dhabi? They discovered ancient swords, ceramics, tombs, and even irrigation systems! It’s like stepping back in time and discovering a whole new world. Who knows what other exciting things they might uncover in the future? History is full of surprises, and it’s waiting for you to explore it!
