Tomatoes Grow Like Israel’s Way!

Recommended for Alappuzha

Hi there, enquiring intellect! Guess what? Something super exciting is happening in a place called Kanjikuzhy in Alappuzha. There’s a farmer named Sujith Swami Nikarthil who is doing something really cool with tomatoes!

You know, tomato farming is usually done outside, right? But Mr. Nikarthil is doing it in special little houses called polyhouses. They’re like mini greenhouses just for tomatoes! How cool is that?

Tomato Tales & Banana Buddies!

  • But wait, it gets even more interesting! He planted the tomato seedlings on raised beds and covered them with sheets to keep them nice and cozy. It’s like giving them a soft, warm blanket to sleep under!
  • Do you know why he’s doing all this? Well, it’s because he learned some amazing tricks from farmers in a faraway place called Israel. They are super smart and know how to grow lots of yummy food using special techniques.
  • You see, these polyhouses help Mr. Nikarthil keep the bugs and diseases away from the tomatoes. So, the tomatoes stay healthy and happy, and he can grow a lot more of them!
  • Oh, and the best part is that with this method, he can grow tomatoes all year round! No need to wait for a specific season. It’s like having a never-ending tomato party!
  • But wait, there’s more! Before trying out tomatoes, Mr. Nikarthil grew some other delicious things like bananas. He used the same Israeli farming ideas there too! He’s like a farming superhero!
  • In the banana farm, he planted three saplings in one pit. It’s like having three banana buddies holding hands in the same home! And because of this, he could plant even more banana plants and grow lots and lots of bananas!
  • You know who helped Mr. Nikarthil start this awesome tomato adventure? The Agriculture Minister, Mr. P. Prasad, was there to cheer him on and plant a seedling with him! It’s like having a special guest at your birthday party!
  • And not just the Minister, some other important people from the place called Kanjikuzhy also joined in the fun. They all wanted to be a part of this fantastic farming journey!
  • So, my little friend, what’s the big lesson we learn from Mr. Nikarthil’s story? Well, we learn that trying new things and learning from others can lead to amazing adventures! Just like how he learned from the farmers in Israel and brought their smart ideas to his own farm!
  • And we also learn that farming can be a lot of fun and a bit like a big puzzle. You have to figure out the best ways to make plants grow strong and healthy, just like how Mr. Nikarthil did with the polyhouses and high-density planting!
  • Now, isn’t that a fantastic story? We laughed a little, we learned a little, and we got to see how a farmer in Kanjikuzhy is doing something really special with tomatoes and bananas!
  • So, my dear reader, let’s remember to try new things, learn from others, and have some fun along the way, just like Mr. Nikarthil! Happy farming adventures to you!
