The journey began with Mayor Max I, initiated through a fun election organized by Animal Rescue Friends. The First Election
A New Town
Phyllis and her husband arrived in the picturesque town of Idyllwild. Nestled amongst Southern California’s beautiful mountains, this small, cozy town was their new home. The streets were quiet. The air was fresh. However, Idyllwild had no mayor.

One day, something exciting happened. The town's animal rescue center, known as Animal Rescue Friends, had a bright idea. They announced Idyllwild's first-ever mayoral election. But there was a twist – the candidates were pets!
Mayor Max I Emerges
Phyllis loved Golden Retrievers. She had a lovely one named Max I. With his golden fur and friendly wag, he was loved by everyone. When Phyllis heard about the election, she was thrilled. She knew Max I would be the perfect mayor.

The townspeople gathered on election day. Fourteen dogs and two cats were in the running, each hoping to be the winner. Max I, with his shiny coat and warm eyes, stood out. Children loved to pet him. Adults adored his calm nature.
