Johnson & Johnson recalls baby powder in the U.S.

Johnson & Johnson recalls baby powder in the U.S.Pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson recently announced that it is recalling around 33,000 bottles of Johnson's Baby Powder in the United States.

This is after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found trace (small) amounts of asbestos in samples taken from a bottle purchased online.
 	This is the first time Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has recalled its famous baby powder due to asbestos contamination.  However, J&J is already facing 15000 cases from consumers who say that Johnson's Baby Powder caused cancer.
 	It has also been facing numerous other problems recently, including the cases over its Risperdal drug.

J&J said that the voluntary recall is limited to only one batch of Johnson’s Baby Powder produced and shipped in the United States in 2018.

J&J says that they are investigating the matter after receiving the FDA's report on 17 October. They are working to ensure that the testing was done correctly.
 	It also added that FDA testing of recent samples did not find asbestos.

The FDA has recommended consumers to stop using the product if it comes from the contaminated batch.

Asbestos is a term used to refer to six naturally occurring silicate minerals. It is known for being a danger to health and inhalation of the material can lead to cancer. Even a tiny amount of it is considered dangerous to health.
