How to Make Kada Prasad
Ingredients:
- Whole Wheat Flour (Atta): 1 cup
- Sugar: 1 cup
- Ghee (Clarified Butter): 1 cup
- Water: 3 cups
Step-by-Step Process:
- Heat Ghee: In a large pan, melt the ghee on medium heat, ensuring it’s not too hot.
- Add Whole Wheat Flour: Gradually add whole wheat flour to the melted ghee while stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Roast until it turns golden brown.
- Prepare Sugar Syrup: In a separate saucepan, combine sugar and water to make a syrup. Boil until it reaches a one-string consistency.
- Combine Flour and Syrup: Carefully pour the sugar syrup into the roasted wheat flour while stirring continuously.
- Continue Cooking: Keep stirring on low heat until the mixture thickens to a halwa-like consistency (usually 5-7 minutes).
- Offer Prayer: Traditionally, offer a prayer or ardaas while making Kada Prasad, infusing it with spiritual devotion.
- Serve Warm: Once the desired consistency is achieved, turn off the heat, allow it to cool briefly, and serve the Kada Prasad warm.
Kada Prasad is a sacred sweet treat that symbolizes humility and equality, reflecting Guru Nanak Dev’s teachings. It is an integral part of Gurpurab celebrations and is often distributed at Gurudwaras and among family and friends.
