McLeodGanj – India Travel Diaries!

Recommended for Foundational Grades

McLeodGanj is a small town located in Himachal Pradesh, India. It is part of another popular hill station, Dharamshala.

  • In McLeodGanj, you can find the magnificent Dhauladhar Mountains, pretty waterfalls and lakes.
  • However, it is just not any ordinary beautiful and chilly hill station. It is also home to many people from Tibet and is where the 14th Dalai Lama lives.

Tibetans and the Dalai Lama!

Tibet is currently a part of China. But many Tibetans have shifted their homes to McLeodGanj along with their religious leader, the Dalai Lama.

  • The hill station is also called ‘Little Lhasa’ and it has many monasteries and temples. Lhasa is the capital of Tibet.
  • The Tsuglagkhang Complex (also called the Dalai Lama temple) is the main Buddhist monastery. Many tourists visit the complex and watch the monks and nuns praying or meditating.
