Hide-and-seek could be a professional sport!

Recommended for Preparatory Grades

Do you like to play the game of hide-and-seek?

Benefits of playing Hide-and-Seek!

  • Playing hide-and-seek gives a child physical benefits.
  • The exercise helps them build stamina and aids muscle development.
  • The attempt of getting into the hiding place also helps improve their swiftness. Searching for players also helps children develop their thinking.
  • This happens as they try to work out the best place to hide or find their target. It also allows them to develop their social skills.

Hide-and-seek as a sport!

Professor Hazuki from Nippon University, Japan wants this game of hide-and-seek to be included officially in the Olympics Games. He has developed a game that has two teams of seven players.

They play in a 10-minute match on a square area that measures 65 x 65 feet (whereas the playing area for children under 12 is less than that). Professor Hazuki proposes that the game is presented as an exhibition sport.

He has also set up the Japan Hide-and-Seek Promotion Committee, which has over 1,000 members now. For now, it hasn’t been accepted by the Olympic committee yet. But if they do, it could become a professional sport.
