What are tulips?
Tulips are flowers with large and brightly coloured petals. They are members of the lily family and bloom during springtime. They were first grown wild in Central Asia but today, the Netherlands is most famous for them.
The garden is called the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden. It blooms on the Zabarwan Hills along the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. It first opened in 2008.
The garden has 64 types of tulips and more than 15 lakh flowers. Apart from tulips, you can also see other flowers like hyacinths, daffodils and roses.
Can you visit Asia’s largest tulip garden?
This famous tulip garden gets thousands of tourists every year. But last year, it was closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, it is open but visitors have to follow COVID-19 safety rules.
