Israel goes back to elections as Netanyahu fails to form coalition governmentAfter elections last month, Benjamin Netanyahu was expected to take support from other winners to form a coalition government*.

However he has failed to secure a majority coalition in a shocking turn of events.
 	On Wendesday, 30th May, the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) voted for a repeat election.
 	This is expected to happen on 17th September 2019.
 	Netanyahu has become Israel’s first prime minister-elect who has been unable to form a coalition government after an election.

In the April elections, Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party got a total of 36 seats in the 120-seat Knesset.

Their main rival, the Blue and White party, got 35 seats.

If successful, Netanyahu was on track to be Israel’s longest-serving prime minister.

On a personal front. Netanyahu is facing a tough time ahead as he may be charged with crimes committed while in office.

These charges include bribery, fraud and breach of trust in three corruption cases.

On his part, he has denied any wrongdoing.
