Portfolios given to ministers in new NDA government

Portfolios given to ministers in new NDA government57 ministers of the new NDA (National Democratic Alliance) government, led by PM Modi, were sworn in, on 30th May 2019.

The 57 ministers have been given their portfolios*.

Which ministers have received the key portfolios?

Amit Shah will be the new Home Minister.
 	Former Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs. She is the second woman Finance Minister, the first one was Late PM Indira Gandhi.
 	Former Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be Minister of Defence.
 	Former foreign secretary S. Jaishankar will be Minister of External Affairs.

Some other important Ministers

Smriti Irani will be the Minister of Women and Child Development, in addition to Textiles.
 	Ravi Shankar Prasad, Dharmendra Pradhan and Piyush Goyal have retained their old portfolios of Law, Petroleum and Railways respectively.
 	The crucial Agriculture Ministry has been allotted to Narendra Singh Tomar, who will also hold Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
 	Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will be Minister for “Jal Shakti”, a priority for the new government. 
 	Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ is the new Minister for Human Resources, while Prakash Javadekar has been made Environment and Forests minister.
