Himachal Pradesh – Dev Bhoomi
Himachal Pradesh is also known as Dev Bhoomi ( Land of Gods). Hima means Snow in sanskrit. It was named Himachal Pradesh by a great Sanskrit scholar, Acharya Diwakar Datt Sharma.
Some of the most commonly spoken languages are Pahari, Dogri,Mandialli, Kangri, Gojri and kinnauri.
The state is well known for its handicrafts. Himachali caps are also famous art work of the people.
Local music and dance reflect the cultural identity of the state. Through their dance and music they entreat the gods during local festivals.
Each valley in Himachal has something important to contribute to the flavour and presentation of the state’s cuisine. The food served during weddings is known as “DHAM “.
Himachal is also said to be the ” fruit bowl” of the country with orchards wide spread.
Himachal also produces potato seed for the country.
Tourism is the major industry of the state.
With all these few words I would like to say that I love to be Himachali.
