I am a amicable person who loves to interact with people . My hobbies include dancing, singing, writing, reading and travelling.

What inspired you to become an educator?

I believe that learning is a life long process. Being an Educator, we can reach to many people who love to learn and they want to create their own niche in life. Being an educator, I can pursue my thirst to learn as well.

What do you love the most about being a teacher?

Being a Teacher, I love all the moments that I spend with my students. The fun-filled and learning oriented moments in the classroom with my students are the moments I will cherish forever.

The one change you would like to bring in the current education system.

I would like to introduce practical oriented strategies in the education system. These strategies would make every student as an independent learner. I strongly recommend that the students should be given the freedom to choose their course for future studies and it should be chosen through their skills.

Your message to your 21st-Century-students.

My message to the twenty first century students is that they should never change their attitude , wherever they go in life.

A special story, memory or message that you want to share.

'The Bow whispers to the Arrow before speeding forth, your freedom is mine”, these famous words of Rabindra Nath Tagore are undoubtedly the significant ones to mark a good beginning for my reflective thoughts about the teachers who influenced my life. I am an Educationist who empowers the Teachers of today with all the current skills and teaching competencies that are needed to survive in this present era. I enjoy being with the teachers, listening to their stories, helping them whenever and wherever needed. I motivate them to march forward through their chosen path of as the sculptor of the future generation. I love the moments when I receive appreciable glances from them and the beautiful smiles they give as a token of love and gratitude to me. I feel content when I see them excelling in their teaching after attending my trainings. I love to see the way they enjoy the fun and frolics we have during our trainings.
Upon looking back, I realize that I am indebted to all my teachers who taught me and moulded me to be what I am today. I give my due respects to all the teachers in my life. My ardent passion in reading and writing is instilled in me by my English teacher, Mr.Sahasranaaman. His gentle approach towards everyone, the sweetness in his words, his ever-smiling face and the enthusiasm shown by him in taking active part in all the activities in our school, made him every student’s favourite teacher.
Seeing my unquenchable thirst to learn English, he introduced me to the world of English Literature. One day, he gave me George Orwell’s Animal Farm to read and suggested me to write a book review on the same. For a girl of thirteen years, it was a book of high ideas which seemed to be totally Greek and Latin. But, I started reading that book and gradually got immersed in it only because of the constant encouragement given by him. I still remember the long discussions we had on Animal Farm which was the starting point for me to read more and more books in English like famous classics, collection of poems, dramas and travelogues.
Those days of intellectual discussions on literature with Sahasranaaman Sir, kindled my passion of pursuing English Language and Literature in my graduation, later post-graduated in the same and thus, I became a Professor in English. The fun filled, activity-based approaches taken by my favourite teacher in teaching English and the thought-provoking assignments given by him in his classes were paving the seeds beneath us. Those were the days when the traditional method of teaching was being practicedd but we were always many a steps ahead and were already experiencing the thrill of learning English through Communication and real-life experiences. He taught us how to act in a drama, how to address the gathering effectively and also on how to speak flawless English.
Another inspiring teacher for me is Mr. Bhaskaran Nair, the former Professor, Department of English, Pondicherry Central University. Even though I did not get an opportunity to be his student, I have been fortunate enough to take active participation in his mission to ensure that English Language is reaching to all the students in remote villages. He is a humble person and he deals with his students gently. He is the driving force behind the successful launching and functioning of the English Language Teachers’ Interaction Forum (ELTIF).
From Bhaskaran Sir, I got the inspiration to read more books on English Language and Literature, and i presented research papers on ELT and published many articles on ELT as well. Each teacher who taught me has casted an imprint on my personality. I am thankful to each one of them. I would like to specially remember these two teachers mentioned above for being the Polestars in making my professional journey a successful one. It is the insights transferred to me through their exemplary ways in teaching, and the amicable interaction with the students, that made me to be the recipient of The Best Teacher Award.
I would like to say to all my students “I have shared all my wisdom with you, I have given all my strength to you, I have chiselled you out with all my power and insights and made you ready to face the world. Now it is time to set you free."
Come on, ace up yourself to experience life, to explore more by yourself and to get empowered. Speed forth in life with clarity in your focus and aim high. Our teachers, are our second parents, they are not only transferring the learnings to us in the classrooms, but also adapting us as their own children. Our teachers treasure this ardent wish to see all their students to reach the pinnacle of success, basking in the glory of achieving all the prospects in life, with all the values and virtues in life being kept up and without losing one’s individuality.
Dedicating this article as a token of gratitude to my mother, a retired Maths Teacher who has been the source of inspiration for me and she pushed me to see the positivity in every phase of life and to strive again until you reach the goals.
