Tripura government plants 6500 saplings in one minute

Tripura government plants 6500 saplings in one minuteThe government of Tripura celebrated 'Van Mahotsava', an annual tree planting festival celebrated in India, by planting 6500 saplings* in just one minute.

The event was organised on 21st June in Gomti district, Tripura and it was inaugurated by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

Saplings were planted along National Highway-8.
 	The event was organised with the help of government officials, students and common people.
 	This is part of the 'Green Tripura' initiative.

The government has also announced that people living or owning land near main roads will be given a monthly amount of ₹200 for planting trees and their maintenance.

Recently, Meghalaya also carried out a similar initiative on Environmental Day.
