School News – Schools reopen for all grades

After a 15-month long lockdown, schools in Delhi finally reopened for all the grades on Monday, 1 November 2021. In January 2021, the schools had opened for classes 9 to 12, but they closed again on 9 April due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The schools had reopened again in September, but there was no approval from the government to open the schools for younger children.
Schools in Rajasthan also reopened in September 2021 for both primary and secondary students. The government gave approval for offline classes with 50% attendance. Attendance is not mandatory but the students must have the consent of their parents or guardians to attend the offline classes.
Amidst the wake of rising COVID-19 cases in Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Nadu government had opened the colleges and universities in September. The students of undergraduate courses were allowed to attend their classes alternatively. Moreover, the schools in Himachal Pradesh also reopened from 10 October for classes 8 to 12.
School news: Precautions for students’ safety
Since the children are not vaccinated, the government and school authorities are requesting the teachers to get fully vaccinated and follow the safety guidelines. The children are also requested to follow the COVID-19 protocol guidelines for their own safety. They should wear masks and maintain a proper social distance while they are in school. Adding to it, organising classes alternatively can help to maintain the safety protocols.
