In a remarkable event that took place on 30th June, U.S. President Donald Trump did something no other American president has ever done before.

Important Details

  • The journey towards this momentous meeting began when President Trump sent an invitation to Kim Jong Un through Twitter on 29th June. The following day, President Trump crossed the border into North Korea, taking 20 steps onto their soil, to greet Kim Jong Un with a handshake.
  • After the handshake, the two leaders walked back into South Korean territory together. They were joined by South Korean President Moon Jae-in, adding to the significance of the gathering.
