India to be affected with obesity by 2030

World Obesity Federation has released a report which states that India will have over 27 million children affected with obesity by 2030.

What is obesity?

Obesity is a disorder which involves excessive body fat that increases the risk of health problems.

World Obesity Federation represents professional members of the scientific, medical and research communities from 50 regional and national obesity associations.

Results of World Obesity Federation

According to the report, India will have approximately 10.81% per cent of weight problems amongst the age group of 5 to 9 years. Also, 6.23% of teenagers in the group of 10 to 19 years will be affected by the weight problem.

What is obesity?

It is not just a symptom, it is a disease. Due to the closure of schools and colleges due to the pandemic, children have become obese. Earlier the children used to do exercises during their play hours, but due to pandemics, they have limited themselves, sitting in front of their laptops or televisions.

Weight problems in children have increased from 600% to 700% from 1975 to 2016. The weight problems in children are known as obesogenic surroundings.

Preventions

Obese children tend to have cardiac problems and diabetes which are dangerous for their health. Parents should not ignore this problem and try to prevent it.

The children should engage in physical exercises and games. They should also take a balanced diet with proteins and vitamins in order to prevent the weight problems.
