We already know about the hijab controversy that arose in Karnataka in January. The girls were asked to remove their hijab at the entrance of the institutions. Many Muslim girls denied the school authority and sent petitions to the High Court.
High Court decision on the hijab ban
Karnataka high court has ordered to continue the hijab ban in educational institutes. Muslim girls’ petitions are rejected. The High Court bench has stated some comments on the hijab ban.
- It is not compulsory to wear a hijab in the Islam religion. It is not part of Islam’s traditional dress.
- If hijab is allowed, there will be social differences between the students and it will be wrong.
- Hijab is banned in educational institutes, even in Islamic countries like Siria and Egypt.
- According to the Education Act, educational institutes have the authority to decide the uniform. Students cannot deny wearing uniforms in educational institutes.
- The uniform is assigned so that the students understand that they are equal. It also explains that all religions are considered equal.
