UGC announces Common University Entrance Test(CUET) for central universities

University Grants Commission(UGC) chairman M Jagadesh Kumar announced that the first common university entrance test will be held in the first week of July. This test will be held for admission to undergraduate programmes in 45 central universities.

Common University Entrance Test(CUET)

The Common University Entrance Test(CUET) is a computer-based exam. It will be conducted by the National Testing Agency(NTA). The application window for the examination will open in the first week of April.

The admission to the undergraduate courses in the central universities will be based on the score of the CUET exam. The marks of the class 12th examination will not be used for admission.

CUET test is compulsory for all 45 Central universities funded by University Grants Commission(UGC). The chairman said that the CUET score will not affect the quota of reserved seats at these institutions. They will have to give admissions to all the students through the common entrance test.

About CUET

Common University Entrance Test(CUET) will include multiple-choice questions on NCERT textbooks. The students will be marked negatively for incorrect answers.

CUET 2022 will be offered in 13 languages including Hindi, English and other regional languages. The common entrance test will be conducted in two shifts.
