Book review: ‘Fing’ by David Walliams
Illustrated By Tony Ross
The story narrated in this book is about a father’s (Mr. Meek) quest to find ‘Fing’ for his demanding daughter (Myrtle) which leads him into a terrifying journey into the deepest, darkest and jungliest Jungle.
The part in the book that was inspirational for me was when Mr. Meek fell off from a tall tree, broke his back, lost one of his slippers, and still decided to carry on with his quest for the sake of his stubborn and unreasonable daughter.
Written by David Walliams, the book takes us into a fictitious but wonderful world. This world starts seeming so real when one goes ahead with reading the book. The story hooks a reader to read the entire book at one go: without leaving it even for a second.
It is put together with a lot of creativity, imagination (especially the silly creatures the book introduced us to). It inspires a reader to chase the target until it gets achieved!
There are illustrations that are beautiful to the eye and go with the flow of the book…. thanks to Tony Ross, the illustrator! This indeed is an interesting and a ‘tell aloud’ read for children as old as me.
Extensive use of onomatopoeias makes it more enjoyable!
