Mrs.Shikha Banerjee – Principal, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Kanpur in conversation with Deepti Beri, Director, Curious Times. Watch the video to listen to her #BreaktheBias Story and her journey of becoming a Principal and how she has motivated her students who still message and thank her even after 20 -25 years. She has pursued higher education in English and Sanskrit languages and shows her equal fondness for both languages, breaking the biases around choosing English over Sanskrit or vice versa.
Mrs. Shikha puts up a very important point that she is concerned that in the process of promoting girls and building opportunities for them, we should not neglect boys. They should not suffer at the cost of creating opportunities for girls. They also need to be emotionally addressed. The suffering and oppression are faced by both genders, and not just one. Equality means – respect and freedom for both.
Upon asking who her idol or role model is? Mrs. Shikha says she is inspired by her domestic help and her personal and work values. Mother Teresa has inspired her. She loves Indira Nooyi and her achievements.
BreaktheBias Story – Mrs.Shikha Banerjee’s Mother
Her greatest role model has been her mother because at the tender age of 7 she lost her father but her mother bridged the gap without any hiccups. Her mother paved the way for her and kept motivating her always. Her mother worked in the Computer Department more than 40 years back. Back then there were hardly any computers in the country.
