Curious Times in conversation with Azmira Yeasmin
I am a passionate Maths teacher and I love my subject. I am a postgraduate with M.Sc. in Mathematics B.Ed. I joined as an Assistant Teacher of Mathematics at Techno India Group in the year 2014. Besides being an Educator, I am a Musician by profession. I am planning to do PhD for my love towards knowledge.
I am a musician, vocalist/singer-songwriter of the city-based Post-Rock/Ambient band ‘A Dot in The Sky’. Music is my passion that I am carrying it as 2nd profession. I love pets, nature photography and love to travel especially solo ones. Also, I do write poems and articles few of them have been published in various platform/media. Planning to write a book. I love my subjects ‘Maths’ and ‘Astronomy’.

What inspired you to become an educator?
All my teachers have inspired me a lot, I am so blessed to have a bunch of best teachers/mentors whose guidance is still reflecting everywhere in the path of my life.
What do you love the most about being a teacher?
I love Teachers-students relationship with a happy classroom. I love interacting with students and their parents. As an educator, we get to explore thousands of students and their different aspect. I also love to talk and explain things to people. Knowledge is endless and as a Teacher, I get to learn new things from my students as well.
The one change you would like to bring in the current education system.
I would like to focus on the skill-oriented digital learning in the present scenario. It is very important to be tech-savvy, Instead of Rote learning, there must be project and activity based learning.
Your message to your 21st-Century-students.
Dear students! Be creative. Be focused on your goals. In terms of present world, a person has to be skillfully strong. Keep your goals in mind and work hard. Keep practicing new things. Inculcate a positive nature in yourself.
A special story, memory or message that you want to share.
A story I would love to share : When I joined my first high/Public school , I was quite young and classes 9 to 12 students' seemed my batchmates. So, after stepping in the classroom, I had to face lot of difficulties to maintain the classroom management. Now, the moment they realized about my hobby of singing and that, I am associated with Bengal Music Industry, all the students always requested me to sing songs for them and they'd say that they'd be quiet in the classroom. I have applied this skill in my classroom activity as well and it proved to be quite effective.
