Curious Times in conversation with Deepika
I am a Post graduate In Psychology. I am currently working as a Counsellor and Psychology facilitator at Delhi Public School,a Sonepat
I love to write poems, articles and most importantly, I love to be with kids.
What inspired you to become an educator?
My psychology teacher, Dr. Archana Sharma inspired me. She was always surrounded by children. Her passion for teaching, her soft heart and polite ways to deal with students touched my heart. She always helped us in our boarding school and we never felt homesick. I felt like a free bird in her presence and I decided that I wanted to work with children and counsel them whenever they are in need of help.
What do you love the most about being a teacher?
Being a teacher, I feel really blessed . A teacher is the who teaches every child to become empathic and responsible in life. I want to extend these skills to my students and prepare them to walk on the right path and take right decisions in their life.
The one change you would like to bring in the current education system.
On one hand, we believe in 'Education for All' but on the other hand, there are some schools who deny admission to children with special educational needs. Through this article, I would like to bring a change in the system where each child gets equal right to education. No educational institution should deny the admission to special children.
Your message to your 21st-Century-students.
My message to all students is that times are difficult but you must keep your spirits high. Take every situation as a challenge. Challenges infuse us with energy and you should use it to build your life and career.
A special story, memory or message that you want to share.
I feel lucky to call myself as the teacher of many bright students, I am sure, that you all are going to work hard with great sincerity and perseverance and make us all proud.
