Education is an integral part of a child’s upbringing. We, at Curious Times, have made it our aim to ensure that we also play an active role in imparting the right knowledge to all the Curious children. As such, we also try to ensure that we are always in touch with the leaders in education today and learning from them. After all, it is important to learn from the best.

So, today, we present to you a one-on-one conversation with Joy Padayatty. He is the Director of OLIVEMOUNT GLOBAL SCHOOL, Hyderabad, Telangana. Olivemount was is an initiative of a group of eminent scholars and edified educationists who joined together with a noble and novel idea of bringing about the much-needed values in the system of education.

When did you decide to step into the world of education? What motivated you to become an Educator? I wanted to work in education from my school days. I was inspired to be an educator by my school teachers, who I really admired.

Share some of the challenges you have faced in your career journey. How did you convert those challenges into the pillars of success? One of the challenges I have faced is handling kids who are not very strong emotionally. It is important to give them the right kind of support. But I am happy to say that I tried to be there for them in the role of a close friend so that they do not feel alone and know that there is someone who will be always there for them.

What are the changes have you observed over the years in the field of education? Are you happy with these changes? I am happy with many changes in education today. Today, students learn everything by doing things, trying out the practical aspects of learning. As we know, earlier, there was not that much emphasis on this and so, I’m happy about this change.

What changes would you like to see in the field of Education? What role can the various stakeholders like the government, teachers, students and parents play in this? Teachers should be learners and always try to understand the children by getting into their shoes. We should make them understand the various concepts by explaining them in different ways, as per the child’s particular needs.

Share your message with the aspiring teachers and leaders of tomorrow. Teachers, nowadays kids are facing so many challenges. So, we should be there for them and always try to understand their needs. Never judge them.
