Education is an integral part of a child’s upbringing. We, at Curious Times, have made it our aim to ensure that we also play an active role in imparting the right knowledge to all the Curious children. As such, we also try to ensure that we are always in touch with the leaders in education today and learning from them. After all, it is important to learn from the best.
So, today, we present to you a one-on-one conversation with Vandana Kharat. She is the Principal of JSPM’S Blossom Public School (New), Pune. Armed with excellent infrastructure and educational facilities, Blossom Public School (New) is an ideal choice for parents seeking a qualitative educational institution for their children.
When did you decide to step into the world of education? What motivated you to become an Educator? Honestly speaking I never dreamt of becoming a teacher. It was my mom who insisted that I think about it. Later as I started working as a kindergarten teacher and understanding the needs of the little ones, I decided of pursuing this profession as a career. Slowly, a passion for it grew in me and I wanted to bring about change.
I taught in pre-primary, primary, secondary, senior secondary and also graduates. This helped me to know and understand the socio, emotional, psychological and educational requirements of the growing students.
Share some of the challenges you have faced in your career journey. How did you convert those challenges into the pillars of success? The challenges I faced were not very unusual – they were the same as what every Indian woman faced. I had to balance home and career after marriage, as well as manage time with the family and complete my own education such as masters n professional degrees.
Otherwise, personally speaking, during the pandemic, transforming offline coaching to online and adopting this change was also another challenging task. We had to keep the students actively engaged during the online session and struggle to deliver effective learning. We overcame all this by arranging teacher training using various technical tools and techniques and also adopting new NEP pedagogical plans.
I think life itself is a big challenge and we have to face it strongly and positively. I could do the same with my family’s cooperation and blessings. I would say my success pillars were perfect time management, timeless efforts, optimism, dedication, honesty and complete faith and belief in myself.
What are the changes have you observed over the years in the field of education? Are you happy with these changes? I have observed massive changes in the education sector as I started my career a while ago in 1991. Technology has been an integral part of this change and has transformed the education ecosystem. The methods of teaching, as well as learning, are on an evolutionary curve too. Yes, I am very happy with this transformation in education. Of course, there is still a long way to go and am sure there will be a new revolution with the implementation of NEP 2020.
What changes would you like to see in the field of Education? What role can the various stakeholders like the government, teachers, students and parents play in this? Introduction of the New NEP and its implementation would result in inevitable excellence and success in the education fraternity, ultimately for the success of next generation.
Stakeholders should also be putting themselves in the school’s shoes and understanding their position; getting involved in their ward’s education and adhering to the school norms. After all, it’s only a strong alliance that can raise and nurture the future generation.
The key role of the government is that it should be more empathetic towards private institutions, and should provide some funds for the upliftment of staff and schools. This will ultimately result in the school development and progress
Share your message with the aspiring teachers and leaders of tomorrow. First I would like to congratulate and appreciate the teachers and the leaders of tomorrow for choosing this noble profession. Teachers, you are the backbone of our society. You have to contribute to building a great nation with ideal progressive, innovative, and eminent citizens. Remember, you are the second mother of a student and your dedication, honesty, hard work, innovation, enthusiasm in educating the students, is going to make a huge impact in the life of future generations. Do keep doing the same good job by giving the best of your vital knowledge to life and to make them successful, not only in their careers but also as an ideal person in the society. Dear facilitators, this had been a unique year; the COVID – 19 pandemic has put huge pressure on you all to adopt online classes and it was a revolution which occurred within a very short span of time. But you did it very effectively and comprehensively, you are still continuing the same. “You are the Change required so be the Change”.
Best Wishes with lots of blessings.
