Movie Review: The perks of being a wallflower

The perks of being a wallflower is one of the perfect Romance/Drama films you can watch while your mind is full of whispers of you being stuck in the moment. Based on a novel by Stepen Chbosky and starring well-read actors such as Emma Watson (who is not anymore, the Hermione Granger from Hogwarts we are familiar with) and Ezra Miller, who is so good here.

I have watched him as Flash and in Fantastic Beasts, but he nailed the role here. Logan Lerman is also so believable and relatable as Charlie, truly loved his performance. I simply found myself in his shoes throughout the movie.

The gist revolves around an introvert boy who struggles on a daily basis by hiding a dark secret. Is that the only skeleton in his cupboard? Watch the movie to know! Charlie, the protagonist is just like most of us who is often haunted by his past. Don’t get him wrong, Charlie is a likable kid whose humor-laced trials will amuse both adults and teens.

This movie makes you feel all emotions at once joy, grief, love, happiness and most important of all-pain which in the fullness of time demands to be felt. The theme dealt in the movie are strong and quite not talked about as there are several deep-rooted thoughts planted in this movie which makes us think.

Furthermore, the movie gives us an insight of what’s it like to be a teenager, when most children become less sporty and insecure about themselves as its rightfully said “Growing up is not the problem but forgetting is.” A phase of roller coaster days.

The movie explores young adult themes such as SATs, colleges, music, sports, the world of family dramas, first dates and new friends which in nutshell means the real-world high school issues. It is one of those movies that you still remember months after watching it because the characters and the storyline they followed undoubtedly touches your heart.

I highly recommend this movie to all 15+ out there. This movie has got a strong message behind its narrative. Also, it certainly provides you a new way to look at life itself and surely broadens your horizons. I would like to give this movie a five-star rating.
