10 youth icons who made a difference in 2020

Being young doesn’t mean that you cannot do something amazing that will change the world.

Today, let’s read about 10 youth icons who made a difference in 2020.

  1. Sadat Rahman – He is a 17-year-old boy, who lives in Bangladesh. He won the International Children’s Peace Prize 2020 for his work in helping young people fight cyberbullying.
  2. Gitanjali Rao – This 15-year-old Indian-American girl was named by TIME magazine as the first-ever ‘Kid of the Year‘. Gitanjali is a scientist and inventor.
  3. Anika Chebrolu – She is a 14-year-old Indian-American girl who found a potential treatment for COVID-19. She won the 2020 3M Young Scientist Challenge award.
  4. Anthony Mmesoma Madu – He is an 11-year-old ballet dancer from Badagry in Nigeria, Africa. His video went viral online and he won a scholarship too.
  5. Neelakantha Bhanu Prakash – He won the first-ever gold for India at the Mental Calculation World Championship. He is the fastest human calculator in the world.
  6. M Subuhana and T Kiruthika – These two girls from Tamil Nadu developed a nanosatellite which will help farmers and agriculture.
  7. Quinn Callander – This 12-year-old boy from Vancouver, Canada designed an ‘ear guard‘ which can ease the pain of wearing face masks (a problem that doctors and nurses face).
  8. Cartier Carey – He is an 11-year-old American boy who sold lemonade to make donations to single mothers who needed help during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  9. Radhika Lakhani and Vaidehi Vekariya – These two schoolgirls from Gujarat discovered an asteroid that is slowly moving toward Earth.
  10. Stephen Wamukota – This 9-year-old boy in Kenya won a national award for inventing a wooden hand-washing machine to limit the spread of COVID-19.
