Cyclone Mandous and Its Effects!

Recommended for Preparatory Grades

Oh boy, let us tell you about the crazy cyclone called Mandous! It came with super strong winds and a whole lot of rain. It caused a big mess and made things really exciting!

Important details

  • First of all, this cyclone was a big troublemaker in the state of Tamil Nadu, especially around the city of Chennai. It rained so much that people had to use umbrellas as boats!
  • As Mandous got closer to land, it turned into a super powerful cyclone. It was like a superhero with winds blowing at 65–75 kilometers per hour! That’s faster than a cheetah! And sometimes, it even went up to 85 kilometers per hour with really strong gusts!

  • But wait, it gets even crazier! The cyclone didn’t just stay near the coast. It moved further into the land and brought rain to the whole northern section of Tamil Nadu. It was raining cats and dogs, or maybe even tigers and elephants!
  • Now, here are some super important facts about this mischievous cyclone. First, it was expected to move in a direction that’s like going for a walk, but it would gradually get weaker. It’s like the wind was tired and needed a nap!

  • The people who grow rice and chillies had a tough time because of Mandous. The heavy rain damaged their crops, especially the paddy and ready-to-pick crops. It’s like the cyclone decided to have a big picnic in their fields and made a big mess!
  • To keep everyone safe, lots of police officers and home guards were sent out. They were like superheroes, ready to rescue anyone in need and make sure things were secure. Safety first, always!

  • And guess what? The fun doesn’t stop there! After Mandous leaves Tamil Nadu, the weather experts say that another cyclone will form in the South Andaman Sea. It’s like the cyclone party never ends!
  • So, that’s the crazy tale of Cyclone Mandous. It brought wind, rain, and chaos, but also showed us how people come together to help each other. Stay safe and be prepared for any surprises Mother Nature may bring!
