Assam’s sixth national park opens soon

Assam’s sixth national park opens soonAssam is planning to set up its 6th national park in the district of Dima Hasao.

The proposed park is known as  'Simleng River Impenetrable National Park'.
 	It will be spread over 100 square kilometres.

The district of Dima Hasao

Dima Hasao is Assam's greenest district - 80% of it is covered with by forests.
 	The forest region has many types of plants and animals, including tigers, leopards and more.
 	The upcoming national park will improve tourism and help in the development of the state.

The Dima Hasao forest department has given the proposal for the new park to the government.

After it is approved, the park will be inaugurated officially.

Presently there are 5 national parks in Assam.

They are Kaziranga, Manas, Orang, Nameri and Dibru-Saikhowa.

What is a national park?

It is a park developed for the protection of nature.
 	No human activity is allowed inside such parks.
 	It is open to tourists who are interested in wildlife. They must all follow certain rules.
