So, without further ado, let’s dive into the heart of this culinary wonderland. As we enter the humble yet inviting Sagar Thakur Dhaba, we are greeted by Sumita Thakur, the heart and soul of this establishment. With a warm smile and sparkling eyes, she welcomes us into her world.

“Hello, ma’am,” I say, my curiosity piqued.

“Hello, sir,” she replies, her voice as soothing as the sound of the waterfall outside.

“Your name?” I ask, eager to learn more about the woman behind the magic.

“Sumita Thakur,” she says proudly. “This dhaba is named after my son, Sagar Thakur.”

“Ah, I see,” I nod, impressed by the legacy she is building. “How long has this dhaba been around?”

“It will be 15 years this year,” she replies, a hint of nostalgia in her voice.

“And this waterfall,” I gesture towards the majestic cascade outside, “how old is it?”

“Oh, the waterfall has been flowing for centuries,” she says with a twinkle in her eye. “But it has become more famous recently, thanks to our guests.”

Sunny Deol and the Allure of Local Cuisine

My eyes wander to a board adorned with pictures of Bollywood celebrities, Sunny Deol among them. “I see Sunny Deol on this board,” I remark. “What’s the story behind that?”

“Many Bollywood stars have come here, sir,” Sumita Thakur explains. “Sunny Deol ji, Ananya Pandey ji, and many others. They come to visit Jana Waterfall and enjoy our local food.”

“So, what is the local food here?” I inquire, my taste buds tingling with anticipation.

“Sir, we make maize roti, mustard greens, and a special lingdi sabzi,” she says, listing the dishes that have made this place famous. “We also serve jhatu rice, local rajma curry, mustard greens with desi ghee, chutni, pickles, and siddu.”

A Glimpse into the Rustic Kitchen

“May I see your kitchen?” I ask, eager to witness the magic firsthand.

“Of course, sir,” she replies, leading the way.

As we enter the kitchen, I’m struck by its simplicity and authenticity. It’s a rustic haven where every ingredient is treated with respect and every dish is prepared with love.

“Look here, sir,” Sumita Thakur says, pointing to a stove where a woman is skillfully shaping maize dough into perfect rounds. “This is how we make our roti.”

“It’s amazing,” I remark, mesmerized by the rhythmic movements of her hands.

“You mentioned a special vegetable earlier,” I recall. “What was it called again?”

“That’s lingdi, sir,” she says, plucking a vibrant green vegetable from a nearby basket. “It grows wild in the forests around here.”
