Chandrayaan 2 is set for launch on 15th JulyIndian Space Research Organisation(ISRO) is getting everything set for the big launch of Chandrayaan-2 on 15th July 2019.

Chandrayaan-2, India’s second Moon mission’s launch was announced by ISRO Chairman K. Sivan.
 	The mission is led by two women scientists - M Vanitha (project director) and Ritu Karidhal (mission director).
 	The total cost of the mission is around ₹1,000 crore.

It will be carried to the moon in GSLV Mark III.

The primary aim of Chandrayaan 2 is to study minerals and water molecules in the moon.
 	Water molecules were earlier discovered by India’s Chandrayaan 1 mission, launched in 2009.
 	For the first time, ISRO is planning for a soft landing* of the spacecraft on the moon's surface.
 	Scientists consider this as the most difficult part of the 52-days mission.
 	Only three countries have landed softly on the moon - the Soviet Union, the United States, and China.

*Soft landing: The landing of a space vehicle on a planet in such a way as to prevent damage or destruction of the vehicle
