Cosmos Planetarium starts in Mysuru

State of the art planetarium ‘Cosmos‘ takes off in Mysuru. It is Nirmala Sitharaman‘s dream project.

What is a Planetarium?

A planetarium is a building for presenting educational shows about astronomy.

Cosmos is being built on the Mysuru University campus. The estimated cost of Project Cosmos is Rs 81 crores. The project is expected to be ready by March 2023.

Nirmala Sitharaman wanted to recreate a beautiful, undisturbed and no glare Leh sky in Mysuru.  Technology will make it possible, she believes. She also wants to develop a new department of astrophysics for young scientists and researchers.

What is astrophysics?

Astrophysics is the study of astronomical objects.

Sitharaman chose Mysuru to build the planetarium, for she feels that the learning is fascinating in this city. She wants to make learning easy for all the students so that everyone can utilise the knowledge that is being given to them.

The new Cosmos planetarium lets you gaze at the sky. It will also provide all the old and new data about planets, solar systems, stars and galaxies. Young scientists can utilise all the data and make new discoveries. Won’t it be worth a visit?
