Cricket record

On 14 March, India captain Virat Kohli became the first batsman to make 3000 runs in men’s T20I (international) matches.

Kohli made his debut in T20I against Zimbabwe in 2010. He was already the leading runs scorer in T20I before this.

Cricket record

Kohli created the record in the second T20I match between India and England in Ahmedabad. Kohli scored 73 runs off just 49 balls in the match. India won the match by 7 wickets.

India and England are currently playing a 5-match T20I series. England won the first match and so, the series is at a 1-1 tie now. The next match is on 16 March.

Cricket record

Only two other cricketers have scored more than 3000 runs in T20I till now – both in women’s cricket. They are Suzie Bates (3301 runs) of New Zealand and Stafanie Taylor (3062) of the West Indies.
