Diego Maradona’s ‘Hand of God’ shirt sold at auction
Diego Maradona was an Argentine football player. He is regarded as one of the greatest football players of the 1980s. He was one of the joint winners of the FIFA Player of the 20th-century award.
Maradona played in four FIFA world cups including the 1986 World Cup where he was the captain of the Team Argentina. He took the final goal for the team to win and it is called the ‘Hand of God’ goal. He also won the Golden Ball for being the Best Player of the tournament.

What is an auction?
An auction is a public sale where goods are sold kept on display and are sold to the person who claims a higher price of the same.
During the auction, the shirt was sold for $7.1 million. The ‘Hand of God’ shirt is the most desired football shirt that came into the auction. It is the highest price that’s paid for a football shirt.
Recently, the shirt was housed at the National Football Museum in Manchester. The auction house said that the shirt kept for auction was matched with the images of Diego Maradona wearing them during the game.
