Eco-friendly concrete can protect sea life

Eco-friendly concrete
Today, due to global warming, sea levels are rising rapidly. This is causing more cities near the sea to get flooded. So, cities are putting up walls or other structures to stop the floods.
However, many of the materials that we use to build these walls are not good for the environment and sea life. Concrete, which is widely used, can release dangerous chemicals into the water, harming sea life. Moreover, many sea creatures cannot live on them.
What is concrete?
Concrete is a hard substance made from cement and mixed with sand, water, small stones (gravel) and other materials. It is used in building houses, walls and more.
To help solve this problem, an Israeli company called ECOncrete has come up with products that solve this issue and attract marine life.
Eco-friendly concrete
This company makes chemicals that can be mixed with concrete. This helps the concrete to match the chemical balance of seawater. It also creates eco-friendly concrete blocks that look and feel like natural rock formations. In this way, tiny sea creatures can live in them.
The company has been installing its products around the world for the last 8 years. And they say that the structures get stronger over time.
However, as innovative as they are, many scientists also believe that man-made products like this cannot replace natural structures. So, it is more important for us to use natural structures such as mangrove forests to protect coastlines.
