Endangered blue whale songs recorded off LakshadweepBlue whales are the largest animals on Earth. However, due to over-hunting, today, they are highly endangered. This means they are very less in number. So, finding more of them is always happy news.

For the first time ever, scientists have recorded the songs of blue whales near the southwest coast of India. This is around Lakshadweep.

Scientists have known that blue whales live around the waters of Southern India but they were not sure before. So, these songs have confirmed it.

They believe that the blue whales live in another place but come to the Lakshadweep area around the spring season. This helps us to know about their movement and will help us find ways to protect them.
What are whale songs?
A "whale song" is the sound made by whales to talk to each other, which sounds a bit like humans singing. All types of whales have their own unique songs.
