First all-civilian crew to space splashes down to Earth

Recommended for Foundational Grades

We read about Inspiration 4, the first all-civilian crew to space. SpaceX launched the mission to space on 15 September (16th for India). Now, after 3 days, they are back on Earth.

The four SpaceX tourists returned to Earth safely on 18 September (19th for India) after spending three days in space.

On their way back, their SpaceX Dragon capsule was slowed down by four large parachutes before splashing into the Atlantic Ocean. They landed off the coast of Florida, US. A SpaceX boat was there to pick them up after they splashed down. They came out of the capsule one by one, smiling broadly and waving their arms in the air.

The mission of the first all-civilian crew to space

The goal of the mission was to show that anyone can go to space, even if they are not astronauts who have trained for years. The Inspiration 4 crew spent 6 months training for the mission.

The four of them spent three exciting days orbiting Earth more than 15 times each day. During the flight, they studied their heart rate, sleep, blood oxygen levels and brain abilities.

The first all-civilian crew to space took with them various objects – including a ukulele, which will be sold for charity.
