Giant panda Shin Shin gives birth to twin cubs in Tokyo

Giant panda Shin Shin gives birth to twin cubs in TokyoShin Shin is a giant panda who lives at the Ueno Zoo in Tokyo, Japan. Ueno Zoo is over 120 years old and it is the oldest zoo in Japan.

On Wednesday, Shin Shin gave birth to twin cubs (babies). These are the first panda cubs born at the zoo in four years.

The cubs are roughly as long as an adult human hand. The zoo has not named them yet.

Shin Shin was born in 2005 in Wolong, China. She came to the Ueno Zoo ten years ago, along with her male partner Ri Ri. They earlier also had another baby in 2017, named Xiang Xiang.

The zookeepers are very excited about the new babies and are taking good care of them.

Unlike their parents, giant panda cubs are extremely tiny and weak. When they are born, they are 900 times smaller than their mothers. They stay stuck to their mothers for a few months and come out only after that.
