This beloved children’s book is about a very hungry caterpillar in New York, US. It was first published in 1969 but even today, it is still very popular. It has been translated into many languages across the world.
Eric Carle, the author of the book, has passed away. He died last Sunday at the age of 91.
Eric Carle was a writer, designer and illustrator (artist). He was born in 1929 in the US. He started writing books only after the age of 30.
Over his lifetime, he illustrated more than 70 books, many of which he wrote as well. More than 145 million copies of his books have been sold around the world.
His works
The Very Hungry Caterpillar remains his most famous work. Other popular books by him include Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, The Grouchy Ladybug and Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me.
