Google Doodle celebrates Paralympics with Champion Island Games
Recommended for Foundational Grades
Today, the Paralympic Games are starting in Tokyo, Japan, from today, 24 August. It will end on 5 September 2021. The Paralympic Games or Paralympics are the Olympics for athletes with different disabilities.
In celebration of this event, Google has brought back its largest-ever Doodle game – Doodle Champion Island. We had earlier read about this game at the start of Tokyo 2020.
The game begins when you click the doodle on Google’s search homepage. The main character of the game is a ninja cat named Lucky. The game takes you to an island where a sports festival is underway (like the Tokyo Paralympics). The Doodle Champion Island has seven mini-games, legendary opponents, and dozens of amazing side quests.
Moreover, this time, Google has also introduced a few bonus levels and brand new side quests. So, if you haven’t had a chance to play it yet, make sure to catch it this time.
Opening ceremony
The opening ceremony of the Tokyo Paralympics will be held today in Tokyo’s Olympic Stadium. It will begin at 4:30 pm IST (Indian Standard Time). You can watch some of the Paralympic events live on Doordarshan.
Javelin thrower Tek Chand will be India’s flag-bearer during the opening ceremony. This time, a total of 54 para-athletes from across nine sports disciplines will be representing India at the Paralympics.
