Do you know about greenhouse technology? Let’s find it out together.
Important Details
- A Chinese agronomist helped the Canadian greenhouse technology to grow vegetables without using power.
- An agronomist is a person who is an expert in soil management and crop production.
- This Chinese agronomist is Dong Jianyi. He used laws of thermodynamics to grow cucumbers peppers, lettuce, tomatoes without using any power.
- Fresh Pal Farms launched by Dong Jianyi is considered to be the largest passive greenhouse in Canada.
- Growing vegetables without heat
- The technique to grow vegetables in China’s cold states without heat led to the development of passive greenhouses which do not use electricity.
- How are passive greenhouses created?
- A greenhouse of the steel frame is constructed which is 300-foot-long and 30-foot-wide.
- This greenhouse consists of two polyolefin plastic roofs.
- An electric motor is installed that helps to trap heat during the day.
- Therefore, the temperature inside the greenhouse is fixed at 82 degrees Fahrenheit.
Moreover, the greenhouse has a clay wall on its north side and it captures light easily from the south directive sun.
